There is no pondering over the fact that where the data is coming from. It is the generation of smart phones, social networks like Facebook, twitter and trading platforms.

Google labs had developed an algorithm called Map Reduce that allowed their large data calculations to be chopped up into smaller chunks and map to many computers. And when the calculations were done, we brought back together to produce the resulting data set.

This algorithm is then used to develop open source project called Hadoop which allows applications to run using Map Reduce algorithm.

This helps Google and Facebook to manage their data easily. Businesses are adopting themselves to use this powerful architecture. There are generally two things that's forcing them to do so. First of all large amount of data, larger than 10 Terabytes and secondly high calculation complexity. Combination of these two factors with a need for fast retrieval of data can demand hadoop architecture.

It can be simply understood as the data processing takes place in parallel instead of processing in serial manner in this architecture which finally leads to faster results.

Facebook currently has the largest Hadoop cluster in the world with more than 100 PB of data which grows roughly half a PB per day. Fascinating isn't it!

So, this technology helps Google and Facebook to manage their big data to retrieve any queries quickly.

Study Reports on Social Media Practices of Web Development for Small Businesses

A just-released study conducted by the online marketing firm Vertical Response and reported on in Forbes concludes that web development for small businesses are spending more time on social media but struggling with the added workload it represents. Perhaps as a consequence, most are doing social media marketing in a vacuum because they’re not tracking results, which means they have no way of quantifying if their time and effort are paying off.

“Our survey confirms that web development for small businesses understands the value of social media,” says Vertical Response CEO and founder Janine Popick. “They’re spending more time doing it, and investing more money into it at a faster rate. But the extra work will likely lead to time management issues, especially for the small business owner who’s handling social media on top of all the other responsibilities of running a company. This implies that small businesses are in need of tactics and tools now to help them save time.”

The study, conducted among almost 500 Vertical Response customers, focused on a variety of social media activities ranging from finding and sharing content to blogging. The firm was interested in knowing which platforms web development for small businesses are most active on, their marketing and social media budgets, and how much they’re spending on tools to manage and analyze social media efforts.

Web Development for small businesses includes:

• Two-thirds of web development for small businesses is spending more time on social media today than they did a year ago.

• Forty-three percent of those surveyed spend over six hours per week on social media, 25 percent spend six to ten hours per week and 18 percent spend more than 11 hours per week.

• Face book is still the king of social media in web development for small businesses, with 90 percent reporting that they post there. Nearly 70 percent tweet on Twitter, 50 percent are connected on LinkedIn, 32 percent show up on Google Plus and 29 percent pin on Pinterest.

• One-third of the CEOs, owners and proprietors who responded said they want to spend less time on social media.

• More than half (55 percent) of web development for small businesses operate a blog. Among those that do, 45 percent spend one to three hours to create a post, while 16 percent require more than three hours.

• Respondents ranked the following from most to least time consuming: finding and posting content, learning and education, analyzing efforts, scoping out the competition and responding to questions.

• Some web development for small businesses relies on tools to publish and analyze their social media. Thirty-six percent pay for publishing and analytic tools; 58 percent spend $26 or more per month on it.

Social media budgets are on the rise, with four times as many web developments for small businesses having increased their budgets compared to those that have decreased their budgets. By comparison, only twice as many businesses have increased their overall marketing budgets.

Writing for Forbes, Carol Tice admitted that she was surprised that fully half of the business owners said they never use LinkedIn, but for web development for small business, it is most important factor for web success.

“My experience as a solo owner of my own freelance writing and coaching business is that LinkedIn is the online phone book for hiring solopreneurs. Heavyweight companies do searches on there every day, looking for providers to hire,” she says, adding that it “seems foolish not to have a presence on LinkedIn, especially when the platform demands so much less of you than Face book or Twitter. A weekly status update and maybe a few questions answered or comments made in groups, and you’re good.”

Click on “Verify Claim Token” button to get started the Technorati Claim Verification of your blog.

STEP 11: After some time, your Blog will be verified by Technorati. Now, you can remove the token from your blog.

Acces your facebook through your linux command line

Today in this world almost everyone is on Facebook. Today all our friends and relatives all can be found on Facebook. All of them use Facebook simply from their browser.

But, still a real ultimate geek may not want to access his Facebook account in a way other normal people use. he might try some other different ways to open his Facebook account. So in this post I will tell you that Geeky way to access it.

That most geeky way to access any social networking site is to use it from Linux terminal.Its seems impossible but a bit of PHP script makes it possible.

Introduction-About FBCMD

The thing which i m going to use is a tool called fbcmd which is pre-written in the PHP. It all PHP which drive it.This script allows us to perform all actions which we generaaly perform through our GUI of facebook.It takes command from the terminal like to post a status, to message, to chat etc. and perform that activity accordingly.

What all you need?

To use this script you dont need any special skills. You should have met the system requirements. They are some PHP modules to be installed into your account.To check that goto your file system --> usr--> bin --> and than search for PHP. If it is there than you are ready else you have to install it by issuing simple commands i.e. sudo apt-get install php5-cli php5-curl for all Linux distribution.

Once PHP modules is installed download the fbcmd from this link here (right click it and choose Save As) otherwise do it by command line by  issuing the command as :
 wget https://raw.github.com/dtompkins/fbcmd/master/fbcmd_update.php.

Once that file is downloaded,run this coomand to install fbcmd sudo php fbcmd_update.php install.

How to setup fbcmd?

Fbcmd need to authenticated by Facebook, but it doent use any trival method we generally use.Instead of that we should be passed through a series of steps to be get authorized.

Run fbcmd and you’ll be seeing some instructions printed into the terminal on getting started.

Step 1:Start with fbcmd go access which will take to you to fb page to create a session which shows suceess if session is succesfully created.

Step 2:Type fbcmd go auth which wiil take you to the page to create an authentication code which you will be using further to get connected. Press Generate to generate your authentication code. It will change after each session you create.

Then type the fbcmd auth [code], here code is what you get after generation.

Now you have to add permissions for fbcmd use fbcmd addperm by this you will be able to do 

anything from your terminal.Allow that permission you want to give or cross if you don't want.

Now when you are set up its time to use the fbcmd to its full capacity.

• Post a new comment using command fbcmd status [message] for a word or use double quotes to use multiple words in your status. E.g. fbcmd status "hello there".
• If you'd like to see the posts others have made on your wall, use fbcmd mywall. 
• To get a list of all friends use fbcmd friends and for specific friend use fbcmd friends "[string]". (remove the square brackets but include the quotation marks).
• To see who is online from your friend use fbcmd fonline. 
• To show the last messages in inbox you can use fbcmd inbox X, where X is the number of messages you want to show.
• To check your news feed use fbcmd stream and to like someones post use fbcmd like[postID].
• To upload a picture to your Facebook, use fbcmd addpic [path of image] [optional album ID] [optional tag].

I think this is pretty cool doing all this  via command line but it is not suitable for all users.It is more for big-time geeks. So use this if you dare, but it's pretty cool once it is successful.
